Report from Reno Part. II

I am home now, but I am continuing my report from Reno where I attended the Sticker Guy 15th Anniversary show. (This is a music blog, of all things!)

Check out these photos someone took. We even made it in a few!

After the Bananas, we caught thee mighty SPITS, who are one of the greatest modern punk bands to ever live. Did you know Ernie Quentero is now their keyboardist? Besides from being in the Spits, Ernie is one of the nicest, coolest dudes and I usually run into him a few times a year. He has filmed and toured with some awesome bands, including the above mentioned, and the Black Lips. I did an interview with him for my "Punk Rock Roadies" article from the last Out of Order Zine. Also, check out his other band, Slab City!!

The Spits, as you'd expect, were awesome in their Reagan masks, and white cloaks. They played a bunch of the greats from their Slovenly release, and their first record, and even a few from the last one like "Witch Hunt" and "Nuclear Bomb". I sung along, of course. The crowd really enjoyed them, especially this dude in front of us who, instead of pounding his fist in the air, would pound his skateboard in the air. It was bizarre, and annoying. (Check out the picture to the right. We're in there somewhere.)

While chatting with Ernie, I also was confirmed the sad news that indeed, the Dissimilars broke up. I inform you with great sadness. They were the first release on Out of Order Records and were the band that got the label off it's feet. Many thanks to DJ Rick for introducing me to the band, Larry for his wisdom and drunk phone calls, Jimmy for his smart remarks and sincerity, Hadi for his surprise jokes, and Nate, well Nate was the quiet one. Seriously, on meeting these guys I knew they were #1 dudes and I will never have any regrets on releasing the Jimmy's Room 7". The record is out of print, and will not be re-pressed. And it's better than the Plastic Idol one! Bam. Aww, I love both of them. I always had a blast when they made it up to Northern California to visit, and my only regret is that they didn't get better gigs when they were here.

I'll continue this report later...I've got a meeting to go to!
